POSTING THROUGH THE MAIL WHILE NYX IS DOWN It is possible to post while our newsserver is down. I just did. Write the entire post out on a word-processor. Add a header. My header looked like this (without the '>'s, of course): > To: mail2news@nym.alias.net > Newsgroups: alt.sex.stories.d > Subject: Re: {ASSD} Mary & Janey dialog debate > Followup-To: alt.sex.stories.d > From: Uther Pendragon > Organization: nyx.net > Reply-To: anon584c@nyx.net > References: <7qk71v$8q3$1@nnrp1.deja.com> That was a little verbose. But this much is necessary: To: mail2news@nym.alias.net Newsgroups: Subject: With, of course, the last two lines filled out. The header needs to be flush left and the first line needs to be the top line of the file. Then save the file to some filename in your home directory. If you are not in the shell, type top,u,sh . Entering that will put you in the shell. Then type mush -h filename . Entering that will bring you a response ending with "continue editing or ^D to send." [control] d will send it to the mail-to-news gateway. It will be in the newsgroup within hours. If something is wrong, there will be a message saying so. Then you need to type ~e alone on a line. Entering that will put you in your chosen text editor. When you have exited the text editor, [control] d will send the post. You can always read news in Dejanews from Nyx.
